2020 Gaming Build

Hey everyone,
I'm looking at getting a new computer in 2020. While it will mostly be used for gaming I also need it to run things like Word, Excel, web browsers, scan old family photos and copy them from CD/DVD's etc. I've been using logical Increments to shop around but I'm wondering if any of you have any advice, tips, suggestions, personal stories about vendors brands etc. good bad or otherwise.
Also just for fun, if you could make a new build, what would you build and why?
